Maldives records 37th COVID-19 death

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed an 80-year-old Maldivian male has passed away from COVID-19.

HPA said the woman passed away at 1550hrs on October 18, while undergoing treatment at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility. This is the 37th COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives, and the third in October. So far, 30 Maldivians and 7 expatriates have passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives.

As per the statistics of HPA, there are currently 1,010 active cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives, including 39 patients admitted in medical facilities for treatment. A total of 11,210 cases have been reported in the Maldives since COVID-19 was first detected in the country on March 7.
