Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has indicated the cases of violence against children increased in September as compared to cases reported in August.
As per the statistics of the gender ministry, the number of cases of violence against children reported in September is 106, which is three more than the number of cases reported in August this year. The statistics indicated the ministry received a total of 238 cases in September, of which cases of sexual abuse is the most frequently reported category with 44 cases reported in September alone. Moreover, the ministry received 29 cases of negligence, 16 cases of physical abuse, 8 cases of witness to domestic violence in addition to 2 cases of victims of cyber bullying and 2 cases of victims of bullying and harassment. The ministry also received a case of exploitation.
The ministry additionally received 10 cases of child rights violation and 2 cases of children in conflict with the law. A total of 10 behavioural problems of children were also reported to the ministry in September.
As per the statistics of the gender ministry, 46 cases of gender based violence and domestic violence were reported last month, with 29 cases of physical abuse, 8 cases of emotional abuse and 3 cases of sexual abuse. 3 cases of negligence, 2 cases of controlling behaviour and a case of economic and financial abuse were also reported in this category.
In addition, 24 cases of family issues were also reported the last month. They include 15 cases of custody or access, 6 cases of child maintenance and 3 cases of parenting issues.
The ministry furthermore received 32 cases involving care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities. They include 21 cases of care and support for persons with disabilities and 11 cases of care and support to the elderly. 8 cases related to self-harm and suicidal behaviour were also reported to the ministry in September.
The gender ministry stated it has attended to all 238 cases received in September.
