Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated the sacrifice made by teachers to ensure the continued education of students amid the COVID-19 pandemic can never be fully repaid.
Speaking on the occasion of the World Teachers’ Day, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali said the current pandemic has brought in many additional challenges for the work done by teachers. Highlighting the effort and commitment it takes to prepare a lesson even during normal circumstances, the minister said the lockdown and the suspension of physical classes has only exacerbated the challenges faced by teachers in ensuring the continued education of students. As such, she noted teachers have trained themselves to use previously unfamiliar platforms to ensure lessons are not disrupted amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The education minister further said teachers have always had a special place in everybody’s hearts for the valuable work they do in building educated and capable generations. She added the work done by teachers during this pandemic has further increased the love and respect towards them.
Noting there is so much still to do in order to bring the education system back to normal, the education minister said the determination shown by teachers amid the pandemic has paved the way for innovative ideas and a new vision towards a better future for teachers and students.
