Border Miles will be revised and improved every year: Immigration

Maldives Immigration has stated the Border Miles programme will be revised and improved every year to include attractive offers for tourists.

Maldives Border Miles is a tourism promotion programme initiated by Maldives Immigration, and developed with Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). It is a three-tiered loyalty program, where tourists who enroll in this programme will earn points based on the number of visits and duration of stay. The programme was launched on September 27, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

Speaking to PSM News regarding the implementation of the Border Miles programme, Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Ahmed Hussain said the authority is currently working on finalising the benefits and incentives of the programme, including the benefits provided at resorts and airports. Noting the programme is scheduled to be implemented by the start of December, the Controller General said the details of the programme will be finalised by the end of November.

The Controller General further said the whole programme is based on providing benefits and incentives for tourists to visit the Maldives repeatedly. He said the programme will be revised and improved every year to include attractive offers for tourists.

There are three categories in the Border Miles programme; Aida (bronze tier), Anantara (silver tier) and Abaarana (gold tier). Each tier will be defined by a set variety of rewards, services or benefits, which increase in value as members progress.

With the introduction of the Maldives Border Miles programme, it is expected that tourism will boost considerably as it is an added advantage in promoting the Maldives.
