President establishes Regional Airports Company Limited

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has established Regional Airports Company Limited under a Presidential Decree.

Regional Airports Company Limited is intended to oversee the operations of regional airports developed by the government and to ensure that they are operated in an efficient and sustainable basis. The company will be fully owned by the government, and will act as a separate legal entity with the ability to press and receive charges on its own.

There are 16 airports across the Maldives, including 4 international airports. Another 3 airports are currently under construction.
