Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced it will only be accepting online payments for transactions which are above USD 5,000, starting from October 1.
MIRA stated starting from October 1, all payments above USD 5,000 or MVR 100,000 will only be accepted through the online portal MIRA Connect using card or MRTGS. MIRA has also urged all taxpayers to use its online portal to make payments even if the sum is below USD 5,000 or MVR 100,000.
Ministry of Finance has instructed all state institutions to only accept electronic payments for transactions above USD 5,000 or MVR 100,000 in order to reduce the dependency on cash and cheques.
