Vice President holds discussions regarding traffic congestion in Male'

Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions regarding traffic congestion on the streets of Male', the problems faced due to parking constraints, and on solutions to the aforementioned challenges.

The discussions were held during a meeting at the President’s Office. Present at the meeting were Minister of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam, Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula, Ministers at the President’s Office Ahmed Naseem and Ahmed Sameer, Male' City Mayor Sifa Mohammed and senior officials from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Maldives Police Service (MPS).

During the meeting, the vice president stressed the need to implement policies that would decrease congestion and increase parking space in Male’. The officials present at the meeting shared their perspectives regarding these issues and offered suggestions on ameliorating them. These included selecting better spaces as parking areas and improving their design, improving public transportation services, preparing guidelines on loading and unloading items from buses, and implementing new methods of collecting waste.
