BroadCom highlights the lack of trained broadcasters in the Maldives

Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) has stated the biggest challenge faced by the Maldivian broadcasting industry is the lack of trained and experienced broadcasters.

The statement was made by President of BroadCom Mariyam Waheeda during an online meeting held with the High Commissioner of UK to the Maldives Caron Rohsler regarding the current situation of the broadcasting industry in the Maldives and projects planned for the development of the industry.

Speaking at the meeting, Mariyam Waheeda said the lack of trained and experienced broadcasters poses one of the biggest challenges in BroadCom’s efforts to develop the industry. She said the commission has been undertaking efforts to build technical expertise in the broadcasting sector, noting a proposal has been submitted to the government of the UK for assistance in conducting training programmes.

Speaking at the meeting, High Commissioner Rohsler expressed eagerness to work with BroadCom on providing the assistance required to develop the broadcasting sector of the Maldives.
