Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has advised individuals taken to isolation facilities to refrain from damaging the facilities.
Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said it has been reported that some individuals taken to isolation facilities have caused damages when leaving the facilities. In this regard, she noted windows, furniture and bed sheets have been damaged, while complaints have also been raised over the lack of cleanliness when using the facilities. She said such actions will not be tolerated and warned legal action can be taken against it.
Dr. Nazla said HEOC will not hesitate to seek compensation for the damages if necessary. She advised everyone to respect the facilities and to keep in mind the establishments will be utilised in the future as well. Noting the establishments are rented by the government, she said the government has to bear a huge expense for the facilities.
While over 8,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Maldives, 1,235 individuals are currently in isolation facilities.
