Fire in Henveiru brought under control

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has stated the fire which broke out in a building in Henveiru ward of Male’ City has been brought under control.

The fire initially broke out in a two-storey building in Henveiru, which included a cafe’. The fire quickly spread to the adjacent 10-storey building, which includes the headquarters of State Bank of India (SBI) and Ooredoo Maldives. MNDF said the fire has now been brought under control, although the fire has not been completely put out as of yet.

MNDF stated individuals in nearby buildings have been evacuated. There have been no reports of any injuries related to the fire.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised the public not to gather around the scene of the fire. HPA has also advised residents of nearby buildings to close their doors and windows to prevent smoke from entering the house.
