Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has stated only one family is currently residing in a temporary shelter due to the impacts of COVID-19.
Speaking to media regarding the efforts of the administration to ensure social security to all families, Deputy Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Fathimath Yumna said 253 individuals were provided with shelter over disruptions caused due to COVID-19. However, Yumna added 240 individuals have been sent back to their native islands following the ease in restrictions in the Greater Male' Region.
Further, she shed light on the initiations of the ministry amid COVID-19, revealing assistance was provided for five social sectors. She also added 553 individuals were provided with food and psychosocial support was provided to all individuals who have made requests at the ministry.
