President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, for leading the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to a monumental victory in the parliamentary elections of Sri Lanka.
In separate messages sent to the Sri Lankan President and Prime Minister, President Solih extended warm congratulations on the resounding victory of the SLPP in the parliamentary elections, adding it is testament to the confidence the Sri Lankan people place in the leadership of the current Sri Lankan government. The president noted Sri Lanka remains the Maldives’ cherished neighbor, partner and friend, adding the Maldives is committed to work alongside the Sri Lankan government to reach the common aspirations and overcome the common challenges.
In both messages, President Solih reiterated the commitment of the Maldives to further enhance the close relations and cooperation with Sri Lanka in the bilateral, regional and international spheres.
