Most arrivals since reopening of borders recorded from the UK

Maldives Immigration has revealed most tourists arrived from the UK since the reopening of the international borders of the Maldives.

As per the statistics publicised by Maldives Immigration, 904 tourists arrived to the Maldives from July 15 to July 24. The markets with the most arrivals include the UK, the US, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Russia, Egypt, the UAE and the Philippines.

The statistics showed 117 tourist arrivals were recorded from the UK, 106 arrivals from the US, 73 arrivals from Germany, 45 arrivals from Switzerland, 45 arrivals from Russia, 35 arrivals from the Philippines, 31 arrivals from the UAE, 31 arrivals from Spain, 30 arrivals from Hungary and 23 arrivals from Egypt.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, popular markets for the Maldivian tourism industry include China, India and Italy among others. Since the reopening of the borders, international airlines such as Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Sri Lankan Airlines commenced operations to the Maldives.

The Maldives reopened its international borders on July 15, after 110 days.
