National airline ready to commence international operations

The national carrier, Maldivian, has announced it is ready to commence international operations.

Speaking to PSM News, PR and Communications Manager of Maldivian Moosa Waseem said operations to destinations which the airline previously operated to will be resumed once the countries reopen international borders.

The borders of most of the countries are still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the Maldives also closed its border on March 27 halting all inbound passenger flight operations. However, the Maldives reopened its international borders for visitors on July 15.

Maldivian conducted scheduled operations to 9 destinations which include 6 destinations in China, Chennai and Trivandrum in India and Dhaka, Bangladesh. The borders of India and Bangladesh remain closed while some destinations in China which Maldivian operates to remain closed as well.
