All returning locals and expatriate workers required to undergo home quarantine

Health Protection Agency has mandated a 14-day home quarantine for all locals and expatriate workers returning to the Maldives.

In the regulations initially published by HPA upon reopening borders on July 15, home quarantine was recommended for returning locals and expatriates, but not mandated. However, HPA has revised the regulations on July 18, mandating a 14-day home quarantine for all returning locals and expatriates as well as their families, at a location of their choice. HPA stated those undergoing home quarantine will not be permitted outside until they test negative for COVID-19 at the end of their 14-day quarantine period.

HPA has mandated home quarantine for returning locals and expatriates following a rise in COVID-19 cases in the country after lockdown restrictions were eased. While tourists are allowed to enter the country and stay in resorts without quarantine, local guesthouses have not yet been granted permission to resume operations.
