Speaker Nasheed appointed as CVF Thematic Ambassador

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has been appointed as a Thematic Ambassador for the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).

Climate Vulnerable Forum is a global partnership of 48 countries that are disproportionately and critically at risk of climate change. CVF appointed ambassadors in six different areas to further better aims of the partnership. Speaker Nasheed was appointed as Thematic Ambassador of CVF for the Thematic Domain of Ambition, for his climate advocacy efforts in the international world.

Nasheed was also chosen for his role due to his efforts to communicate the impacts of climate change on small island nations during his reign as President from 2008 to 2012. He also received global recognition for his efforts to reduce global carbon emissions in COP15.

In a letter sent to Nasheed, the current CVF Chair and Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Abdul Kalam Abdul Momen notified him of the appointment.

Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) is a global partnership of 48 countries that is likely to be significantly impacted due to climate change. CVF aims to increase awareness, encourage adoption of sustainable policies and practice, and change all energy used by partners to renewable energy.
