World must ensure crimes like the Bosnian genocide does not repeat: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the world must ensure crimes against humanity such as the Bosnian genocide in 1995 does not repeat.

President Solih made the remarks in a tweet posted to recognise the 25th anniversary of the brutal massacre of over 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The president said although the world failed to prevent the genocide, the memory of those slain must be honoured by ensuring such crimes against humanity are never repeated.

The events in Srebrenica in 1995 included the killing of more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims, as well as the mass expulsion of another 25,000 - 30,000 civilians in and around the town, committed by the Bosnian Serb Army.
