National airline to operate connecting flights to Gan Airport

The national flag carrier, Maldivian, has stated it will arrange connecting flights to and from Gan International Airport (GIA) to other domestic airports for airlines intending to operate international flights to Addu City.

Speaking at a webinar organised by the National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME), Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Limited Aishath Jennifer said Maldivian will operate connecting flights to GIA should international airlines operate flights to Addu City. She said the airline has recently announced its decision to operate domestic flights to Kulhudhuffushi from GIA, and it will also assist domestic transfers from Addu City to Huvadhu Atoll.

Maldivian has scheduled a flight between Addu City and Kulhudhuffushi City for a fare of USD 93.65. The flight from Kulhudhuffushi to Addu has been scheduled for every Thursday with the return flight on Saturdays.

Domestic air transfer has now resumed in the country after suspending all travel movements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Maldivian has also started operating flights between Dharavandhoo Airport and Hanimaadhoo International Airport and between Thimarafushi Airport and Kahdhoo Airport.
