Cafes and shops to close at 2200hrs, deliveries to take place before 2300hrs

Ministry of Economic Development has announced business services can be provided in the Greater Male' Region between 0500hrs and 2300hrs from July 1 onwards.

The economic ministry said cafes, cafeterias, restaurants and canteens in the Greater Male' Region will be allowed to provide services from 0500hrs to 2200hrs. However, the ministry said shops are allowed to provide services from 0900hrs to 2200hrs and deliveries can take place until 2300hrs.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised all restaurants and cafes to abide by the guidelines which includes displaying the maximum number of people allowed inside the premises. All customers and staff are required to wear masks while inside the premises. Meanwhile, smoking cigarettes, shisha and e-cigarettes in cafes and restaurants is prohibited when the premises are opened for dine-in.

The guideline publicised by the HPA also state it is mandatory to ensure preventive measures are in place to safeguard the service seekers and providers. The guidelines states the service providers must detail a service providing plan amid the adaptation to the new normal conditions.
