MTCC ferry services to return to normal schedule on July 1

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced ferry services in the Greater Male’ Region will be operated under the normal schedule starting from July 1.

MTCC announced the ferry services between Male’, Villimale’, Hulhumale’, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu will operate under the normal schedule followed before the lockdown, starting from July 1. The state-owned company has published the schedule for its public transport services, which will be followed from July 1 onwards.

MTCC suspended ferry services for the public on April 15, following the detection of COVID-19 cases in Male’ City. The company resumed ferry services on May 28 under a revised schedule, after the government announced the first phase of easing lockdown restrictions in the capital.

Earlier, MTCC stated an average of 15,000 people use the ferry services to travel between Male’ and Villimale’ on a daily basis. However, the state-owned company revealed this figure has dropped to 6,000 amid the State of Public Health Emergency declared in the Maldives.
