Equipment sent for COVID-19 facility in Laamu Atoll

Ministry of Health has issued the equipment required for the COVID-19 facility under development in Gan Regional Hospital of Laamu Atoll.

Equipment issued for the development of the COVID-19 facility include ventilators and other machinery used for treating COVID-19 patients. In addition to these equipment, the health ministry has also sent the equipment required to turn Gan Regional Hospital to a tertiary level hospital. The equipment sent to the hospital include digital X-ray machine, laparoscopy sets and machinery required for orthopedic and ophthalmologic treatment.

The COVID-19 facility under development in Laamu Atoll is the dedicated facility for people from Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu Atoll. Gan Regional Hospital is the main hospital for people from these five atolls. The hospital currently has specialised doctors in 11 fields including gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics and dermatology.

The government has decided to develop COVID-19 facilities in five regions across the Maldives. Most of these facilities have been constructed and are currently installing machinery.
