A cargo flight operated by the national flag carrier, Maldivian, has brought in 11 tonnes of goods from Colombo, Sri Lanka. The national airline said 11.765 tonnes of cargo, including fruits, vegetables and some health equipment were brought to the Maldives.
Maldivian commenced international cargo flight operations on March 29, as part of the programme to ease the import of items to the Maldives amid the restrictions due to COVID-19. Currently, Maldivian operates cargo flights to Colombo, Trivandrum, Chennai, Bangkok and Dubai.
Maldivian has revealed it has brought over 700 tonnes of cargo to the Maldives since the commencement of its cargo flights. The national airline expects to increase the number of flights considering the demand for charters from businesses to bring cargo.
