Hopper dredger to employ 100% Maldivians in 4 months: MTCC

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated it aims to employ 100% Maldivians to operate its hopper dredger.

Speaking at a webinar organised by the National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME), CEO Adam Azim said MTCC will save between USD 486,000 to USD 519,000 should it achieve the target of employing all Maldivians to operate the hopper dredger. Azim further said MTCC intends to achieve the target in four months. He stated all new hires are locals although 50% of its work force are expatriates.

The state-owned enterprise is currently conducting 42 projects in 36 islands, while an additional 28 projects are ready to be commenced once the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region is lifted.
