55% of COVID-19 patients under the age of 20 recover in the Maldives

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed 55% of COVID-19 patients under the age of 20 in the Maldives have fully recovered.

The latest statistics from the HPA revealed 163 individuals under the age of 20 have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, representing 8% of all cases reported in the country. This includes 37 males and 26 females under the age of 10 as well as 61 males and 39 females between the age of 11 and 20.

HPA revealed 90 patients under the age of 20 have fully recovered, representing a recovery rate of 55% for the age group. This includes 54 males and 36 females.

The youngest child to contract COVID-19 in the Maldives was an 11-day old baby, who tested positive on May 29. All children who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives are locals, with the exception of a 4-year-old Sri Lankan boy.
