Housing Ministry dissolved, mandates shifted to Planning Ministry

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has dissolved Ministry of Housing and Urban Development following the resignation of Aminath Athifa as its minister.

After abolishing the housing ministry, its mandates have been transferred to Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure. The decision will see the merging of the two ministries and the formation of Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Following the change, all staff of the housing ministry will also be shifted to the newly formed ministry headed by Minister Mohamed Aslam.

Citing health reasons, Athifa submitted her resignation to the president on June 10.
