Additional 200 Indian nationals repatriated from the Maldives

An additional 200 Indian nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives via chartered flights of the national carrier, Maldivian.

The operator of national airline, Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) said its repatriation flights departed with 118 Indians to Trivandrum and 82 Indians to Chennai from the Maldives. So far, a total of over 2,000 Indian nationals have returned to India from the Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government of India has been operating a major evacuation programme to repatriate Indian nationals stranded overseas amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, Indian nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives through ships of the Indian navy on four occasions, as well as several chartered flights.

The government of the Maldives has been working to repatriate foreign nationals in the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
