Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed it conducted 424 trips to transport essential supplies to different parts of the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adam Azim said MTCC provided logistical support to National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) and relevant authorities in transporting food and other essential supplies to different parts of Male' City and the atolls amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, Azim revealed the company conducted 424 trips to transport materials via land and sea. He appreciated the assistance provided to MTCC by Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in the logistical operations.
Speaking further, Azim said the state-owned enterprise also assisted the transfer of COVID-19 patients and direct contacts to isolation facilities. He also noted MTCC provided ferry services for essential workers and other permitted individuals amid the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region, adding isolation facilities were developed for staff working at ferry terminals.
