Registrar of Companies Mariyam Visam has announced all business permits issued to resume operations of private offices, companies and businesses will hereafter be issued exclusively by Maldives Police Service (MPS).
Speaking at a press conference held at National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), the registrar said although business permits were previously issued jointly by Ministry of Economic Development, Male’ City Council and MPS, the policy has been changed such that all types of business permits would be issued exclusively by MPS. She said new applicants seeking business permits must now apply at the portal established by MPS.
Speaking further, Visam noted over 1,000 permits have been issued to reopen offices since the first phase of easing lockdown restrictions in Male’ began on May 28. She added over 4,400 permits have been issued for employees to return to work in the Greater Male’ Region.
Under the eased lockdown restrictions in Male’, private offices and businesses have been allowed to operate at certain hours after seeking the required permits. Authorities have urged the public to continue observing personal safety measures against the spread of COVID-19, despite the eased restrictions.
