President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the commitment of the administration in continuing advocacy for the nature and environment amid the global COVID-19 crisis.

In a tweet sent to mark the World Environment Day, President Solih said as the world emerges from the COVID-19 crisis, protection of the earth’s natural environment and its biodiversity must be key aspects of the efforts to rebuild countries after the pandemic. He assured the commitment of the government of the Maldives in continuing advocacy for the nature and environment.

World Environment Day is marked annually on June 5. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Time for Nature’, with a focus on its role in providing the essential infrastructure that supports life on earth and human development.

While activities for the World Environment Day have been restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, Ministry of Environment has organised some activities which can be conducted from home during the World Environment Day.
