Over 3,400 businesses apply to resume operations in Male’

Male’ City Council has revealed 3,480 businesses have applied to resume operations in Male’ City, following the eased lockdown restrictions announced by the administration.

After the government announced the beginning of the first phase of easing restrictions on May 28, Male’ City Council established an online portal to allow businesses to submit applications to resume operations. The city council said 3,480 applications have been received during this period, including 2,090 applications from companies. In addition, the council revealed 9,207 individuals have applied for a permit to return to work.

Male’ City Council stated the applications have been shared with the Ministry of Economic Development for verification. The city council said permits will be issued with the help of Maldives Police Service (MPS) after the verification process.

Following the eased lockdown restrictions, delivery service hours of shops and restaurants in Male’ have also been extended. As such, delivery services can now be provided from 0900hrs to 2300hrs.
