75 Indians in Addu transiting in Male’ to return home

75 Indians in Addu City have arrived in Male’ City for transit before being repatriated to India.

The Rapid Response Team (RRT) in Addu City said the Indian nationals traveled to Male’ City to return home on June 5. Addu RRT further revealed the screening work was carried out in collaboration with the High Commission of India in the Maldives. These 75 Indians were working in Addu City to construct the Police Academy being built under the aid of the Indian government.

Around 1,800 Indians stranded in the Maldives have been evacuated from the Maldives thus far, while an additional 700 Indian nationals will be repatriated within the coming week. Addu City Council said a total of 162 Indian nationals in Addu City who are seeking to return home has registered with the city council as part of its programme to collect information of all expatriate workers living in the city.
