Number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives rises to 1,547

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 1,547.

HPA said 1,298 individuals are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in the Maldives, including 12 patients who are undergoing treatment at Tree Top Hospital and in the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital. Another 2 foreigners are being treated abroad after contracting the disease while in the Maldives. A total of 242 individuals have made full recoveries from COVID-19 in the Maldives.

Maldives has recorded 5 deaths from COVID-19, including an 83-year-old Maldivian woman, an 88-year-old Maldivian man, an 80-year-old Maldivian man, and two Bangladeshi men aged 33 and 45.

Meanwhile, 1,817 individuals are kept in quarantine facilities and 1,108 individuals in isolation facilities across the Maldives.
