Ministry of Islamic Affairs has permitted prayers in congregation to resume in all islands in the country, except for seven islands currently under monitoring.
The Islamic ministry said an island will only be permitted to resume prayers in congregation 14 days after the monitoring conditions are lifted. Currently Male' City as well as Narudhoo and Manadhoo in Noonu Atoll are under monitoring conditions and hence, congregations will not be resumed in these islands. Prayers in congregation will also not resume in the islands of Himmafushi and Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll, Thakandhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll and Milandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll as the four islands are awaiting completion of the 14-day period.
The ministry has called islands with no prayers in congregation to call for prayer, despite the suspension on congregations. Moreover, the ministry has called on the people to stay patiently and perform all religious duties at home.
