The COVID-19 taskforce established in Kulhudhuffushi City has decided to lift the curfew imposed in the city.
A circular published from the council said the task force has decided to lift the curfew imposed in the city following the decision of the government to allow congregational prayers in the islands that do not have cases of COVID-19. The circular noted the lifting of the curfew does not allow gatherings in public spaces such as parks, play grounds until further notice. Despite lifting the curfew, the city council has stated the policy formulated in the wake of COVID-19 regarding people to travel in and out of the island has not been changed yet.
The curfew was first announced by the taskforce on April 21, which was later extended on two occasions. However, some leniency was allowed on May 1, enabling people to move out from 0600hrs until 1530hrs for essential purposes. A permission of the city council was required If a person required to go out during the curfew.
