Additional 10 ventilators procured to the Maldives: NEOC

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed an additional 10 ventilators have been procured to the Maldives.

Speaking at the daily press briefing, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said with the new batch of ventilators acquired, the number of operational ventilators in the Maldives now totals 129. The most critical patients of COVID-19 require treatment on ventilators and the Maldives has been working on attaining a sufficient number of ventilators in preparation for a surge in critical cases.

Providing details on procured medical supplies and equipment, Mabrook said the government has now acquired all the beds required for the intensive care units and isolation facilities. He said the authorities are now working to transfer all personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical facilities established across the country.

Noting the country now has the estimated requirement of 1,420 cylinders of oxygen available in the country, Mabrook added the government has been successful in obtaining 50% of medical supplies and equipment thus far.
