MTCC completes construction of Villingili harbour

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the construction of a harbour in Villingili, Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

The project was awarded to MTCC in August 2019 for a cost of USD 684,000. The project includes 7,985 cubic metres of dredging, construction of a 346-metre breakwater, and construction of a 30-metre bridge linking the mainland with the breakwater. Further, the installation of navigational lights in the entrance channel of the harbour has also been completed.

Villingili is one of the most prominent islands in the fishing industry of the Maldives. The island has a population of approximately 3,700.
