Passengers of international flights asked to seek airport travel permit

Ministry of Tourism has requested individuals who have purchased air tickets to depart from the Maldives to seek the permit required to travel to the airport.

A flight of the national carrier, Maldivian, departed to Bangkok, Thailand on May 4 with some tourists and expatriate workers in the country. Turkish Airlines is scheduled to operate a passenger flight from the Maldives on May 5, while SkyUp Airlines from Ukraine is scheduled to operate a flight on May 8.

The tourism ministry said passengers travelling on these flights are required to seek permits from Maldives Police Service (MPS) to travel to Velana International Airport (VIA). The ministry also called for support from resorts, guesthouses, and island councils in transporting the passengers travelling on these flights.

The tourism ministry urged the public to follow the instructions given by authorities at all times during the current situation.
