71 Maldivians repatriated from Bangladesh and Nepal

71 Maldivians have been repatriated from Bangladesh and Nepal on a repatriation flight of Bangladesh Armed Forces.

The evacuation flight operated by Bangladesh Armed Forces landed in Velana International Airport (VIA) at 1630 hours, Monday, with 18 locals from Nepal and 53 locals from Bangladesh. Meanwhile, 70 undocumented Bangladeshi workers were repatriated to Bangladesh on the return flight.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid stated the endeavor displays the close bond between the two countries. The minister expressed gratitude for the cooperation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen. He assured to continue on repatriating remaining undocumented workers back to their countries.

Moreover, a 10-member Bangladeshi medical team also arrived in the Maldives from the flight carrying Maldivians from Nepal and Bangladesh. The team will assist the Maldives in its fight against COVID-19.
