Farukolhufushi and HIH facilities well-equipped: HRCM

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has revealed the isolation facilities established in Farukolhufushi and in Hulhule' Island Hotel (HIH) have been well-equipped to deal with a COVID-19 outbreak in the Maldives.

In a statement the commission released after touring the two facilities to observe the conditions after renovations, HRCM stated the facilities have been well-prepared with the medical equipment required for people in isolation. The commission said the facilities have also been designed to ensure the safety of the people isolated. Additionally, the commission stated the facilities have also ensured the safety and protection of healthcare providers and professionals. HRCM stated it will attempt to monitor and observe the facility, despite the restriction of movement within the country.

Farukolhufushi, where the high-risk people are isolated, is the first isolation facility prepared following the first cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives. The facility houses high-risk people in order to ease the transfer of patients to Dharumavantha Hospital for critical care.
