The national flag carrier, Maldivian, has revised the ticket prices of repatriation flights.
Speaking at a press conference in National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), Communications and Public Relations Manager of Maldivian Moosa Waseem said the airline has reduced ticket prices of repatriation flights to all destinations with support from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The price reduction was announced after the public raised concerns stating the ticket prices were too high.
After revisions, Colombo-Male’ ticket costs USD 220, while the ticket for the flight from Cochin is USD 149. Trivandrum-Male' ticket has been priced at USD 199, while Kuala Lumpur-Male’ ticket is priced at USD 330.
Maldivian began operating repatriation flights to bring home stranded Maldivians overseas due to lockdowns in countries amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. In this regard, the airline has repatriated hundreds of Maldivians from Cochin, Colombo and Kuala Lumpur. The airline is set to operate another repatriation flight to Trivandrum, India on April 11.
