Fits Air commences cargo flight operations to Maldives

Sri Lankan airline Fits Air has commenced the operation of cargo flights to Maldives.

The airline informed cargo flights between Colombo and Male’ began on April 2. The airline stated the flights will carry stocks of fruits, vegetables, meat and other items to Maldives, with 6.5 tonnes of goods to be air-freighted on every flight.

Fits Air stated Sri Lanka will be providing cargo services to Maldives and other countries amid the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as border restrictions have impacted the import-export industry. The airline stated its services will be available for Maldivian businesses looking to import items.

Fits Air operates passenger flights within Sri Lanka, as well as international cargo flights to several cities in Asia and Africa.
