The government of Maldives has extended the closure of all educational institutions for an additional week.
In a statement, Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the Director-General of Public Health has decided to extend the closure on all educational institutions for another week from April 5. Following the decision, all schools, colleges, universities and training facilities are to be closed temporarily. Moreover, tuition classes and tutoring in houses, Quran classes and other private educational centres must also be closed.
The government has also decided to close the offices for an additional week upon advisory from HPA. Furthermore, citing the COVID-19 situation in Maldives, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to extend the ban on praying in congregation in mosques in the Greater Male' region until April 11.
