Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to close the night operations of 3 airports due to the reduction in flight movements as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
The ministry has decided to close Hanimaadhoo International Airport, Kaadehdhoo Airport and Fuvahmulah Airport every night. The three airports previously operated 24 hours a day.
The transport ministry said the airports will be operated from 0600 hours to 1800 hours from April 1 onwards. The ministry stated the decision was taken due to the decrease in the number of flight movements.
However, the ministry assured arrangements will be made if the airports are required to open urgently.
