Two more COVID-19 cases fully recover in Maldives

National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has revealed two more individuals, who had tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, have fully recovered.

Speaking at the daily press briefing, Consultant Physician Dr. Moosa Murad revealed two more cases have fully recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in Maldives to 13. Dr. Murad noted only the two Maldivians who were tested positive are currently being treated for COVID-19. He added the recovered individuals will be released after completing a quarantine period of 30 days.

While 17 individuals have been tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, two of the positive cases belong to Italian tourists who have left Maldives. Following the recovery of 13 cases, the only active cases belong to two Maldivians who returned from UK.

Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said Maldives currently has 3,800 test kits, while 1,000 rapid test kits are available. Mabrook added Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) is working to bring 6,100 more test kits to Maldives. He said there would be over 29,500 COVID-19 test kits available in Maldives when new kits are brought to the country.
