Two more COVID-19 patients fully recover in Maldives

Two more patients who were tested positive for COVID-19, have fully recovered in Maldives.

During the press conference held at National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), Dr. Muaz Moosa announced two patients who were tested positive for COVID-19 have now recovered, raising the number of recovered cases to 11. Dr. Muaz stated there are currently 3 patients in treatment. He added all patients who recover will be released after 30-days in quarantine.

On Friday, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen announced a Maldivian had tested positive for COVID-19 for the first time. Speaking at the daily press briefing held at NEOC, Health Minister Ameen announced the 38-year-old Maldivian who was tested positive for COVID-19 had returned to Maldives from the UK on March 22 and was immediately quarantined. The minister said the individual was tested for the virus on March 25 after showing symptoms.

While this was the 14th positive case reported in Maldives, this was the first time a Maldivian had been tested positive. All 13 previous cases were foreign nationals from resorts and safaris.

A total of 16 samples are counted as positive in Maldives including the cases of two Italians who left Maldives.
