All samples from Paradise Resort test negative

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed all samples from Paradise Island Resort tested negative for COVID-19.

HPA said temporary monitoring measures enacted on the resort has now been eased as per protocol. Moreover, HPA has begun shifting a foreign national who tested positive for COVID-19 to Dharumavantha Hospital.

HPA stated one of the foreign nationals from Island Safari, who previously tested positive for COVID-19, is being transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for close observation and monitoring. The coronary care unit (CCU) in Dharumavantha Hospital has facilities to monitor respiratory diseases.

Meanwhile, an Italian couple, who tested positive for COVID-19, were also taken to Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment. HPA said they were shifted to the facility to further monitoring and treatment considering their age. HPA added although the 70-year-old did not produce enough oxygen for functioning when taken to the facility, the patient's health is now improving.

Furthermore, HPA noted 32 foreigners from Kuredu Island Resort have been released after observing a period of 14 days in quarantine. The resort is still kept under monitoring after 5 positive cases of COVID-19 were found on the island.

Maldives has reported 13 positive COVID-19 cases, all of whom are foreign nationals.
