All individuals from Summer Island test negative for COVID-19

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed all 7 individuals from Summer Island Resort tested negative for COVID-19. Following the results, HPA said the temporary inbound and outbound travel restrictions to the island have been lifted.

Moreover, HPA revealed symptoms of coronavirus were seen from a tourist from Italy who was staying in Sandies Bathala Island. HPA said necessary tests are being done in accordance with guidelines, adding the island is now under lockdown.

Maldives has confirmed the first positive cases of COVID-19. Speaking in a press conference, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen said the two foreign employees from Kuredu Island Resort were tested positive for the virus and have been quaratined in Farukolhufushi. He urged all citizens to avoid panicking and to refer to official announcements made by the authorities.

Furthermore, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed assured authorities in Maldives are following the guidelines and standards of World Health Organisation (WHO).
