President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has submitted 4 nominations to the Parliament of Maldives to be appointed as members of Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM).
While Vice President of ECM Ahmed Akram tops the list of the nominations for an additional term as a member, former vice president Ahmed Fayaz and 2 other nominations complete the list of nominees. The other nominees are Mariyam Haneefa Khalid and Ahmed Mansoor. The nominations have been forwarded to the parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions.
President's Office announced for new membership applications as the term of Akram ends on March 23. Therefore, only one of the four nominations will be confirmed as a member of ECM following a vote in the parliament.
President's Office will also announce to seek a new member as the term of the current President of ECM Ahmed Shareef also ends this year.
