Islamic Ministry investigating spread of anti-Islamic information

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has commenced investigation of allegations against a foreign organisation accused of conducting sessions that spread anti-Islamic information which is against the Religious Unity Act of Maldives.

The ministry stated it has received complaints from the public regarding the sessions held against the act. The public has been vocal on social media as the workshops are reported to have been held in various islands across the country.

The sessions were held by an UK-based organisation. Citing particiapants, local media reported the sessions question the beliefs of Islam and promoted actions prohibited in Islam. The sessions were aimed at students, teachers and employees of government offices.
