Nominations open to join Commonwealth Youth Council

Maldives has gotten the opportunity to join the Youth Council of the Commonwealth.

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment revealed Maldives has also got the opportunity to submit nominations for the Commonwealth Youth Council. Nominations are now open for nine youth leaders to represent the Commonwealth's 1.4 billion young people on the Commonwealth Youth Council. The Commonwealth Youth Council is seeking candidates for its executive positions to serve from 2020 to 2022.

The youth ministry revealed candidates aged 15-27 with at least three years of experience working with a national youth council or a registered youth-led organisation can submit nominations. According to the youth ministry, eligible candidates must submit nominations by March 10, 2020. The selected candidates are required to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) in Kigali, Rwanda from June 20-23, 2020, where elections will take place.

After a 3-year break, Maldives re-joined the Commonwealth with the support of all member countries on February 1, 2020.
